1956 Frigidaire ’ s 20 millionth refrigerator rolls off the assembly line; Frigidaire launches a new style trend with its “ Sheer Look ” line – the first appliance design revolution in years
1955 “ Ice ejector ” , a storage bin with built-in cube release is introduced
1954 First color-matched appliances offered by Frigidaire
1952 Frigidaire introduces “ Cycla-Matic ” , the first automatic defrosting of the refrigerator compartment; Frigidaire launches the “ Filtra-Matic ” system that eliminates the need to vent clothes dryers to remove excess moisture and lint; The first built-in automatic lint removal system in an automatic washer
1950 A new industry standard is set when Frigidaire introduces the first 30-inch electric range
1948 Frigidaire pioneers the first ever combination refrigerator/freezer with a completely separate freezer section; The 10 millionth Frigidaire refrigerator is manufactured
1947 Laundry product line added; The Frigidaire washer has the first vertical pump agitator and a spin dry speed of 1,000 rpms
1938 The first air-cooled, window-mounted room air conditioner is launched
1933 The “ Meter Miser ” , the first sealed, self-oiling rotary refrigerator compressor
1931 The first use of freon as a refrigerant greatly improves refrigerator safety
1930 The first hydrator, a humidity drawer for fruits and vegetables
1929 Frigidaire builds its one-millionth refrigerator; Frigidaire introduces first chest-type home food freezer; First refrigerator automatic reset defrosting system; First self-contained room air conditioner; International sales begin
1927 Frigidaire introduces the first porcelain-on-steel refrigerator cabinet; Frigidaire adds milk coolers and drinking water coolers
1924 Frigidaire develops refrigeration equipment for soda fountains
1918 In September, General Motors purchases Guardian Frigerator Company and changes the name to Frigidaire
1916 The Guardian Frigerator Company is founded to manufacture and sell a new “ electric refrigerator ” designed by Alfred Mellowes – the first domestic self-contained refrigerator
